Since Mercy Mall is a place that gives out clothing, baby gear, household items, cleaning products, hygiene and more...it must come from somewhere!! You are right!
Our WONDERFUL Receiving Team works together to manage the process of receiving donations, goods and more to getting it out on the floor so our Personal Shopper teams can pack it up.
The Receiving Team works with every department facilitating a team approach in order to efficiently meet the needs of our clients.
While there are specific jobs to be accomplished here, the overall mission is best achieved by remaining flexible, being willing to pitch in where needed.
There are several ways that items arrive at Mercy Mall here are a few:
- Individual Donations
- Through our Host a Drive opportunity
- AMAZON/WALMART orders
- Consignment store partnerships
- Good 360
- Walmart Distribution Center
- & Volunteers
You will be asked to help in the following ways:
- Physically receiving
- Sorting items based on our guidelines (don't worry-we'll help you)
- Stocking the departments
- Merchandising (fancy word for making things look nice)
- Inventory checks
It does take time to learn how to sort through the different items we receive at Mercy Mall but we keep this idea in mind:
Is it something you would wear, use, sleep on? Even more importantly, is it something we know our clientele would use? Remember that our clients are real people made in the image of God. We want to communicate that God sees them, loves them, and values them. With that in mind we want to give the best that we have to give!
Volunteering in this area is a great place to make friends, be a part of a TEAM that see Miracles happen everyday! There are many days when a donor drops off an item that is NEEDED the SAME DAY! That is a very cool thing to witness. JOIN US!
