We are always happy to partner with the community schools and the people working on the front lines to help families living in hotels with essential items.
You can help at the next 2 Outreach events hosted by the Henrico County McKinney-Vento Department! McKinney-Vento Act is a law passed to support and protect children and youth that are experiencing homelessness.
- MV team will be hosting summer pop-up events at several hotels throughout Henrico county to connect with students and their families and ensure they have the resources they need to return to school in the fall. While we have done well with planning thus far, we still need volunteers to serve the day of the event.
The MV Team will be meeting with the eligible families and if they qualify for help from our resources they will come to the table to receive help! Here is what they will be doing:
- On site eligibility (Determine if students are eligible for our program)
- Conduct Needs Assessment (Determine needs of students and families)
- MV info packets/ Resource guide (Connect families to community resources)
- Distribute Resources (Food, hygiene products, school supplies…)

We will have with us at the table: microwaves, crock pots, and/or hot plates with pot or pan. One per family once approved by the MV team. But don't worry...the MV team will make sure you're giving it to the right people.
You may even have the opportunity to pray with someone and share the Gospel!!
